Ask any poor man out there what he thinks about rich people.
“They are thieves, liars and stingy”, most poor people will say.
That is the product of the society’s ignorance.
Our society (because it’s filled with over 90% of poor people) really don’t understand how the rich think or behave.
They think the rich are thieves, liars or stingy.
Let me address the issue of stinginess today, while I may talk about stealing and lying in the future (of course you know I won’t support the poor’s views).
Are rich people truly stingy?
Except you do ritual and your herbalist told you not to give money to certain people, I can’t understand how anyone with much money would be stingy.
Except the poor people.
The real stingy people are those who are poor.
In fact, one of the major secrets of the rich is their love of giving.
“Give and it shall be given on to you” is not just a biblical commandment, it’s a natural law (and every truly rich person know this)
Think about how much John D Rockefeller gave away in his life time.
Think about the billions of dollars Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, etc are giving away, then compare that with their wealth.
The more they give, the richer they get and they (and every rich person) know that.
But why do poor people complain that the rich are stingy?
Because they want the rich to be sharing money, just anyhow.
You’ll see someone saying, “See, Dangote worth 15 BILLION dollars and I went to him for help, because I have no job, he couldn’t even give me #100,000”
Well, why the poor think money is their problem, the rich know (1,000 times better) that money is not their problem.
Nobody has money problem.
Instead, most people have thinking problem.
Giving money to a poor man would only help him to become poorer.
If you think that doesn’t make sense, think about these;
Donald Trump (a billionaire) get all his children to work (and think) like just ordinary children.
Bill Gates (the richest man in the world) did his will and gives his children no penny in his will (he willed all his wealth for charity organizations)
These guys, and every other rich person knows that money is never a problem of anyone, thinking is.
So, giving millions of dollars to your children (or anyone else) because you’re a billionaire will only destroy them, if they don’t have the power of mind to be wealthy.
That’s why you see rich people giving money to those who are needed to be given; charity organizations, creative start-up entrepreneurs, community development, and not just for someone who thinks he needs money.
Let me stop convincing you; I don’t have to win this argument!
Let’s go to the second part of this teaching;
Well, EVERYONE is stingy anyway
And my opinion will surprise you;
Everyone is stingy, only on different things.
I agree, the rich are stingy, but not on what you think.
They are NOT stingy with money (they just don’t spend it the way the poor wish they do)
But they are stingy with time.
Do you ever see any rich man that has much time?
Maybe in your dream.
You cannot, and the reason is very simple; you canNOT be rich and not be busy.
The real thing you can (truly) accuse the rich of is that, they are stingy with time.
You hardly can get their 5 minutes.
Yea, the poor are very much generous with time.
They have too much of it and that’s why you’ll see them wasting several hours each week on TV programmes, Soccer, Movies, Gossip, Political argument, etc.
You need 5 minutes from a rich man? You have got a problem!
You need 2hrs from a poor man? Worry not, he’s available.
But you see, poor people (as against what you’ll think) are the real “stingyers”.
Poor people are stingy with money because they are afraid of not having it tomorrow.
Enough of that, Stephen!
But why am I even writing this?
I don’t know.
I don’t know.
But let me bring home a lesson before I round off.
Check your life and see what you give most; time or money.
If I need you 10 minutes today, how easy is it for me to get it?
If you’re to give away 30 minutes or #1,000, which would you prefer to give?
You may not learn anything from this post but this; being generous with time is one of the signs you’re poor (and going to be poor).
If you’re generous with time, you’re a poor man!
I don’t know whether I make sense or not, just making noise!
Anyway, I love you.
