Last weekend I had the pleasure of having one of my business teachers visiting me.
With him is his 9 years old son (Bishop).
My teacher asked his son as we were in my office, “What do you think Uncle Steve is doing here?”
I can’t remember the young boy’s response but that question pushed him to come near me.
Then, I started “brainwashing” him.
What! In front of his dad?
His dad actually does that always (so I’m only helping him).
I started telling the boy, “You see, this is my company. When you grow up, what you have to do is to build a company like this where you’ll employ people”
In the evening as we were in an eatery, we asked the 9 years old Bishop, “What do you think is happening here?”
Being a good student, Bishop acclaimed, “This is a company”
“Good! Can you see the owner of this company working here?” his dad asked.
“No!” Bishop answered.
“When you grow up, what you want to do is to build businesses and employ people to work there. Right?”
“Yes!” Bishop nodded his head.
Whether you like it or not, what we were doing is brainwashing the young boy.
We are simply trying to “turn his brain to where we want it to go”
Don’t tell me this is good or bad. Just agree with me that every parent does that.
While we were growing up, our teachers told us, “If you pass your exams and graduate with good certificate, you’ll work for good company and earn good salary”
Our parents and elders told us the same thing.
What they were doing is simply to turn our brains to where they want.
If our fathers did this because they were ignorant of the fact that job doesn’t make anyone rich, I think I’m not doing bad thing if I “brainwash” my son for the opposite of what my parents brainwashed me for.
What is the lesson in this tutorial?
If you have a child or younger ones who can listen to you, teach them to focus on how to build businesses.
Show them how sweet it is to be a successful entrepreneur.
Make them hate job.
If you do this as I’m doing it, the next generation will appreciate us for it.
Brainwash a child today!
