For most people reading this, the answer is YES.
Do you have a library?
For most African, that’s a “Jamb question”.
And just now, you know the reason why we are where we are.
We are where we are in Africa, because we buy big TVs and have no library.
90% of adult Africans (let’s say age 35) have never read 2 meaningful books in their entire life (except, of course, those they were forced to read in that prison called school).
I have spent my last decade studying the lives of successful men and women. I’m yet to see anyone of them who is not a reader.
You want to be a successful business owner and you’ve never read even 10 books about business?
You want to have a great marriage, a deep and excellent spiritual life, and yet, you’ve never read even 5 books about marriage and spirituality?
You’re a mere dreamer!
So what is the way out?
I was a guest on a radio show few days ago when my host asked me similar question.
My answer was simple;
Let every home sell their television and let’s set ablaze all our universities and polytechnics.
You don’t have to take the above two statement literally, however.
But listen! Any adult who buys TV and have no library is not serious about his/her future and any patent who buy TV and no library is doing the next generation a great harm.
You have no right to own a TV, if you don’t own a library of good numbers of books.
